Okay.
Forget about weird feeling. Weird feeling is forgotten when hunger strikes.
*hehe*

I had a plan – home made chicken nuggets. Much “healthier”, I guess.

The unhealthy “hierarchy” for me is this:
Fast food – frozen food – homemade fried food.

To avoid spending money on takeaways, I used to buy frozen food. They are easy, cheap(er), convenient and all I needed to do was to turn on the oven. It helped because I am such a junkfood addict! I could get my fix anytime of the day if I had those frozen junk in the freezer.
*gasp!*

Now, to really want to eat healthy, I would have to eliminate all “short cut” items. Or at least, reduce my frequency of purchase. I don’t have any frozen “instant” food (except for a packet and a half of mixed vegetables) – I do have fish and meat.

I plan to only have eat-out/takeaway “treats” once in a fortnight (because it’s pay day every fortnight). It’s really difficult. Carmen doesn’t think I can last that long (a fortnight) without takeaways. She’s half-right…so that’s why I made myself these. When kiam siap mode kicks in, it kicks in hard.

Okay kar?
I know chicken has to be well cooked, so I put them into the oven (with some left over frozen chips – I don’t know how long it’s been in the freezer!) for a little while longer.

Not-so-fast food at home.

To balance it up, I had homemade vanilla yoghurt (okay, from a pack but it started as a powder) with these.

Trying to cut corners while craving for chicken rice would leave anyone disappointed.

I did fry the rice before cooking it – in a bit of sesame oil, chicken stock and ready crushed garlic. I should’ve added more but I was afraid of if turning out TOO salty and TOO oily. The fragrant part failed because I didn’t have pandan leaves (I’m not going to walk to the east side to buy them from the Asian grocer!)

Oh well, it LOOKED nice…

Apart from what is necessary, I don’t spend a lot of time in the kitchen when I’m here.

Maybe because it’s not exactly my own. Maybe because I haven’t got the tools I need. Maybe because I’m not comfortable cooking/baking here. Maybe because I have to fork out quite a bit to get my tools here. Maybe because I’m just plain lazy.

Today I decided I want to have pancakes and forget about making it fluffy or perfect. I just want it NOW!
*hehe*

It’s not like I’m making it to impress anyone or to serve it to anyone else but myself.

The tin of baking powder that I pinched from Carmen looks so retro, kan?

When I was done with my pancakes, Carmen looked at it and go, “Oh, you meant pikelets.”

Apparently pancakes are the BIG ones. These small ones (which are known to us as pancakes – look at PHOP!) are pikelets (<del datetime="2009-09-30T11:41:08+00:00">pronounced as “peek-lets” – yea, something like piglets!</del> Durr! It’s “pike-lets”, I sendiri created another way to pronounce it. ).

Carmen thinks me strange and vice versa.

The plant at the corner seems to like my pancakes – it’s “tentacle” was reaching out to them.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t exactly taste the same.

Eggs and asparagus.
Healthy dinner?
Eggs: Scrambled with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Asparagus: Blanched for 2 minutes and tossed in garlic and margerine.
