Instead of visiting LiMay on her birthday this year, I got some cheaper tickets to fly to Whangarei at the end of May. Bargain…sort of.

It was quite wet leaving Napier – I was worried the plane may be delayed, causing me to miss my AKL-WRE! Thank God, all was smooth despite the showers.

Rather sunny in Auckland.
[I think this is my longest photo post ever - so considered yourself warned when you click on "more"]

The familiar signage…but this time, no LiMay waiting.

Baggage claim area – self service.

I wait.
Grant came to pick me up and we drove to the hospital to get the house keys from LiMay. No more weird stares from people arriving and leaving the airport.

What did I do when I arrive and had time to kill? Explorin’ the big ‘ol house!

On the lower ground, the kitchen’s lounge.

The kitchen.
Had a tricky time trying to find the coffee. Found a rock solid block which was inedible (in this case, undrinkable?) in LiMay’s pantry. In the end, I nicked some off the pack on the counter. Such is the life of an addict.

The deck. Perfect for BBQs!

From the top floor – quite a fair bit of stairs. This is the true stair-master!

Double wardrobe! What more can a girl want?

Hmmm…someone’s preparing herself, I suppose.

LiMay’s window facing the front porch.

Yay! She’s back! There’s a strange man on the roof!
When the door bell rang I thought it was LiMay but it turned out to be someone that has come to fix the leak in the roof. He must’ve found it weird when I said, “I don’t know where is the leak – I don’t live here” and I was the one answering the door.

Not many places left to go to because it was slightly later than the usual lunch time. Decided on this restaurant thinking we’d have more choices than the sushi bar but it didn’t seem that way when we were looking through the menu (or rather, didn’t seem that way to me).

We took a stroll around the marina – dark clouds, go away!

My host.

Coffee time!
*big grin*

The sun is setting – time to go home.
We decided to watch WooHoo! and it took us a while to figure out why is the disc playing but we couldn’t hear a thing (earlier, I couldn’t figure out how to even turn the TV on – so I read the photography magazine instead) – funny way of plugging in all their stuff.
Half way through the movie (or less?) LiMay’s flatmate came back and it was slightly awkward. Movie is in Chinese/Malay/Manglish and even though the subtitles were turned on, it was just different. Funny parts are just now funny with subtitles and without knowing the culture. Oh well. If he was happy to sit in the lounge with us talking between ourselves and laughing, by all means.
Since it is the 28th of May (my 2nd year anniversary in NZ!), I requested to have fish+chips! It was a bit of a struggle getting our orders through (“Is one scoop of chips enough for 2 person?” “You want $2 chips?”)

Food! Wheee!

Some fruits for me, too!

I think I found my new favourite game.

Rummikub – a little more twisty than your normal rummy.

Time for bed.
I forgot when we decided to spend our day in Auckland – it was an impromptu decision but dim sum and shopping?
“And bubble tea, too?” I squeaked.
So that was it. What library? What cooking? What else was there?

This photo never fails to crack me up.
