This happened two weeks ago.
(Yes, I’m back-blogging)
Went out for dinner with Sam+Alex after work in Napier. It was supposed to be my birthday shout – but talk about being SNEAKY!
For someone who eats out quite often (especially when I worked in KL – I put on 5kg when I moved from Seremban to work there! It’s mad!), you’d be amazed that I could count the number of times I’ve been in a (proper) restaurant with the fingers of my two hands. Or maybe you wouldn’t give two hoots. Heh!
I thought I’d go for a little treat and try this restaurant out (though Sam+Alex have tried it) – since I was in Napier on a Saturday night as well.

South East Asian, it says.

A blurry Sam – excited, apparently.
So was I. Bear with me.

The interior is very ang!

Guess what was the first thing I noticed when I opened the menu?

Sauces! Not free…
Can you see that the menu is not properly printed? The ends are cut off – bad alignment.

Before looking at the menu, I thought they were free for all.
Typical Malaysian, huh?

Green Zen with Chicken, $18
Mahal siut but I thought, “Nevermind lah, it’s not everyday.” You can opt to have shrimps/prawns but I think it brings the dish up to above $20.

Salmon Sashimi, $16
Ah! How I missed you!
There is no decent place for Japanese food – the sushi place near work serves just that, sushi. Nothing else.
Also, it’s been a long time since I had white rice – it tasted real good, too! Look at the size of it! Cina mentality kicks in and goes, “Better finish it even though it’s such a big portion – $2.50 weiiii!”

Soft Shell Crabs, $15
I miss the temaki from KinSanKichi! Everytime I think of that place, I think of Surt!

Chicken Lemon Sauce, $18.50
Again, this was ordered because I missed plain, familiar stuff.
If they had nam yu pai kuat, belacan kangkung, tit pan tau foo – I will definitely order all of them!

When Alex paid the bill and REFUSED to let me take a picture of it.
Don’t mind the belly bulge.
I couldn’t even get a copy from the cashier.
I just wanted a picture! A picture!

After throwing a fit and not wanting to leave the restaurant.
I just wanted a picture but they didn’t believed me…they thought I’d sneakily pay them back.
I did tell them it was MY shout (thus the freedom to order whatever I wanted *heh!*) and did they listen?
I need a partner so that I won’t kena bully from these young people.
Nevertheless, thanks again for dinner!
