De Maw Restaurant

by FeR on April 8, 2008 in eating out, family & friends

I was a bit wary on eating out because for the past two days, every time that something goes in…something has to come out immediately, if you know what I mean.

Crucial question, “Got toilet one ah that place?” because I’ve never been there before with the gang.

I’m glad I went because the food was good – but don’t go there when you’re starving mad. You’d probably be hit by hypoglycaemia before being wheeled off with a glucose drip.
:pfft:
It takes quite a bit of time and apparently you’ve got to either book a place or go early. Am I right ah or wrong?

The restaurant is in Cheras (please don’t ask me where – I was just a passenger in the car) – I only remember something about PGRM or somewhere.

De Maw Restaurant
Authentic Cina looking place.

De Maw Restaurant
This arrived almost as soon as we completed our order.
Apparently ChoYaw was really hungry (given that our past record was one hour late!) and ordered the fried rice earlier. Yes, he said he wanted to be in the picture. So jolly looking summore.

De Maw Restaurant
10 minutes later, the complimentary soup came, with ChoYaw serving us our portions.

It was quite a long wait…but they serve according to tables, so once your first dish comes – everything else will soon follow!

De Maw Restaurant
After a 20 minutes interval after the soup, our first dish came.
HongKong Kai Lan, TeoChew style.

De Maw Restaurant
Marmite Prawns.
Yummy yummy! I am biased because I love prawns!

De Maw Restaurant
This was a slight disappointment for those who have been here before. For this dish, the taste was not as good ler. Scallops were drenched in pepper (and I don’t really like too much pepper in my stuff), what a waste of seafood!

Unless!
It’s not as fresh as it can be. *ahem*
Macam ler expert.
:P

De Maw Restaurant
I can only hear something in the lines of Yuk Kuat from Keat…though for this dish, I quote ChoYaw, “Protein is good!”
:D

De Maw Restaurant
Fruits to close.

The bill came up to about RM150…and Keat footed the bill!

*hehe*
Congratulations on your promotion lah, okay! Yay!!! More free meals. :P

De Maw Restaurant
My favourite photo subjects because they were conveniently seated across me.

“Aih. Like baby like that…can you burp me?”
“Cannot! Nah, drink more tea…”
“When baby want to burp, do you feed the baby more milk ah??? I tell you, really no experience lah…”
*speechless Shyuan*

:hee:

Oh! Does everyone know about the tea stories?

De Maw Restaurant
Why do we lift up the lid when we want the waiter to add more water in our pot?
Apparently in the olden days (according to Keat), there was once a rich f’ler went out yum cha and a waiter accidentally poured in hot water into a closed teapot that had the rich f’ler’s pet bird!
It sounds bizarre to me but yea…so now we lift up the lid so that the waiter can peek in to reconfirm that our teapots need refill.

What about the two fingers gesture when someone pour you tea?
Heh-lo!
Something like knocking two fingers’ knuckles on the table lah!

De Maw Restaurant
Like this!

Why so many people know this story but I don’t?!?
So for this, apparently last time the emperor likes to go around pretending to be a commoner. Then when he poured tea to those people who knew who he was, they couldn’t give him away by kneeling in public to him (it’s a big deal leh when emperor pours tea for you! Fuyoh!) – so their fingers bending over sort of symbolizes their kneeling down to him wor.
I never knew! Sounds interesting, no?

No?
No.

:pfft:
