Dinner: Back to school

entrance to hall
Ah!
So the theme was “Back to School”.
I dare say most (if not all) had fun. Most dressed up for the theme, too! Considering that some people I know are quite stuffy about following instructions and being involved, the out come was really good!

You could say that after this dinner, our job as the KOM committee is done. Done!!!

getting the hall decorated
The hall (Parameswara 1 and 2 combined) while being decorated.
When I first got in, I thought, “Huh? Like this? So ugly…”

done!
After the hall was done, it looked better…though it’s not something that would make you drop your jaw when you walk in. Bear in mind, everything was done under a tight budget.

We utilized most of the money allocated for the dinner to buy gifts, instead. I’m sure people would rather be receiving gifts of higher value than to find out that a lot of money were poured into decorations!
:D

decoration
The board at the front of the portable stage was provided by the hotel and we printed our own coloured letters for “Back to School” (but found out “S” was missing – so Derick did the honour of drawing an “S” that looked like a $ sign :D )
Shredded papers were actually shredded documents collected from the office – we also threw in a bit of coloured papers purposely shredded for this.

Think budget!
At least we gave each person a party horn blower. *haha* Bought from Tesco!

ipod shuffle
When our “Headgirl” (ChingLi) first announced the lucky draw prizes, the reaction from the crowd was, “Sure or not?”

No one believed that we actually bought “better” gifts this year…I know some companies give out really expensive gifts but for my company, this is considered a step up. So keep the “kiam siap” comments to yourself.
:P

Alvin, PaikLing
I don’t know what these two were up to. Both were posing, though.
Alvin and PaikLing.

Hello Kitty bag!
*haha*
I know for sure this belongs to his daughter! There was even an unused disposable diaper inside!

Nicole, FeR
St John’s girl…I don’t think they wear those heels while saving other people, right?
When you dress up like school girls, it’s okay to “act cute” :hee:

my team
The guy at the back is my boss.
Don’t we all look like kids? Someone told me (I forgot who) that one of the hotel staff really thought we were a bunch of school/college/uni kids gathering together for a party!
:D
I think my team really look like a bunch of school kids (the way we dress), except for mama LiangHooi.

Talking about mama, when WaiSze went out to give her “Discipline Teacher” speech (about how is the school’s discipline like)…she said, “The students are really terrible. You have students who are pregnant, wear short skirts, don’t tie their hair, use hair products, didn’t wear their tie, didn’t wear white shoes…it’s terrible, I tell you.”
Imagine if that’s really the case…

best dressed duo
Aveline and KuangHuei being voted as best dressed. They both actually look like they were dressed to go back to kindy. *hehe*

For KH, he did have that in mind but for Aveline…I don’t know. I was thinking more of “Sailormoon” when I first saw her.

*hehe*

headgirl and samseng
ChingLi and Alvin – both with opposite expressions.
There were both apparently “competing” for the phone…mana tau in the end, it was Alvin who got the prize. Thus, ChingLi’s sad face and Alvin’s…uhm…really happy face.

He told the crowd that his “secret” was to have kissed the box earlier saying, “Follow me home tonight” or something to that effect. I tell you, it doesn’t work!

Why?

Well, I wasn’t eyeing the phone. I wanted the thermos pot. I DID kiss it saying, “Guai guai ahh…follow me home after the dinner okay?” but all I got was a bout of sneezes and I fell sick. This was when we were shopping for gifts.

:pfft:

That marks the end of our night…
