Okay. My phone is alive and well…sometimes. Sometimes it treats me nice and the joystick works. Sometimes it merajuk‘s then I can’t scroll down and read messages that are longer than one screen’s page.
End of the year, I don’t feel like working and instead, I feel like splurging. Blergh. Not good. So not good because I’ve already made a promise not to spend on things I don’t need and put the money away on more important matters at hand.
However, before my phone “got better”…I was browsing through the phone models. I’ve not observed phone models for quite some time now – the last time was when K800i was launched. I thought when I DO change my phone, I’d get that (because of the camera and 3G function) – even though it’s bulky looking (and literally bulky).
I couldn’t find something that I like (in the K-series) because most of the K-series have the joystick, still. I want my phone to last forever (!!!) so I have quite a list of “requirements”.
I even ventured to look into Nokia’s website (*gasp!*) but nothing caught my eye (except the N93i – but that is…crazy expensive) and to me, the designs are quite blah.
Back to the SE website…
I was quite stubborn and am adamant to getting the “right” model out of the K-series (well, because I think the K-series is the one that is more camera-focused, right?) but the quest of searching for a phone without the joystick led me to the W-series.
See…I’m not a big fan of music (ironically I have the iPod and I like singing) that I need to have a player with me 24/7. That is why I never ventured to the W-series. HOWEVER…I stumbled upon the W580i! The grey-turquoise one.
It was…love at first sight. Sight.
Then reality sets in and mind took over. Mind says, “K618i not too bad what.”
In fact, my two housemates have that phone.
Mind says, “K618i got 3G, got decent camera, cheaper, can store the numbers you want…”
Sight says, “But they only have white and black…and W580i in the grey is soooooooooo nice. And the slider. I want something different for once.”
Mind replies, “Remember the Zire71? Slider? Went wonky and couldn’t perform hotsync with the computer?”
Sight whines, “But it’s so sleek…so…so…cool.”
“K618i value for money lah, so many things in one! The W580i don’t have 3G. What if the slider spoils?”
“I’ll be very gentle. Won’t be spoilt one! And I don’t have a 3G sim card also! Like Surt said, who would I be able to make video calls with?”
“You’ve got a lot of money meh now?”
“No…but that’s not the point. I’m so sick of candybar models already – I want something different!”
“K618i is the most practical. You don’t need to worry about your slider mechanism going wonky…no need to worry about your 2nd screen koyak as with the clamshell models. Got keylock, nothing can go wrong with candybar. It’s the LEAST risky one. You want it to last forever, right?”
“Hah?! If last forever cannot get anything new? I’ve been looking at the same thing for 3 years now! Other people’s one so canggih.” *sulk*
“Stop it lah. Not like you’ve got the money anyway, so why bother debating?”
“Hmmmph! If I’ve got money, I won’t even bother debating with you, okay. Just buy both.”
“The day you print money, please let me handle some of it so that at least you’d have a retirement fund working for you.”
“Sigh. If only the W580i comes with 3G…I’m sure Mind would shut up then. No…don’t think so. Will find other things to ‘be practical’ about – probably will pick on the slider mechanism. One day. One day when Mind is somewhere else, I will go get the phone. By the time Mind comes back, it’d probably be too late to return the phone or do anything about it!”
