More like last-minute time!
Had dinner together with the cousins before Julie+Ronald flies back to Holland. Had dinner at this place called PantaiSeafood. It’s my first visit there but I think TC mentioned she’s been there many times – it’s one of her family’s favourite places.
Poor mom waited for me for nearly 2 hours! The bus got delayed because of rain+traffic…also the driver didn’t seem to know how to get to Oakland! We were scheduled to be at Oakland by 630am but we only got there at about 720am!!! It was jammed up all the way going onto the BayBridge. Madness!
There were no means to contact mom. Even if I did use my phone, she didn’t have one. She couldn’t call me through pay phone either, right? So she patiently waited for me at the station on 1st Street. Must have been worried!
Chocolate chip bagel with cream cheese at Noah’s Bagel, near Embarcadero bart station.
In the Chinese saying, they say bring money along for just-in-cases…mom gave me this last Sunday to keep with me while traveling on the bus. *haha*
The stuff I blew my money on at Michael’s…the back portion after the squiggly eyes are Hazel’s.
California Pizza Kitchen at Hillsdale mall.
Steve in his favourite spot.
Seafood buffet in FosterCity(?) as a “farewell” dinner.
It is a very cold night! I love the cold weather…last night to cover myself with the Penguin printed fleece blanket while watching TV, last night to tuck self into bed under the Dalmation printed fleece blanket. Do this back home, you’d get a heat stroke or something (I don’t use the AC mah! Think global warming!).
Mom’s helping me pack my bag – she’s experienced. *hehe*
So much for “catching up” with AuntJ yesterday – could barely keep my eyes open!
I probably looked weird and “stoned” because sleepy as I was (and eyes taking extra effort to keep opened), I could feel AuntJ looking at me funny. *hehe* I WAS listening, okay…just that not much of a reaction except for cringing during her “show and tell” part.
So this morning I woke up bright and early! I heard AuntJ opening the sliding door (by the way, sleeping on her couch was the BEST sleep I’ve had…since I didn’t get much rest on the bus for the night before) and I got up, too! It was about 615am? Not exactly bright outside.
Chicken making hard-boiled eggs! Quite the salah because chickens are supposed to LAY their eggs, not cook them!
Curry chicken! Yum! AuntJ said her curry chicken very laku suddenly because I’m around. *hehe*
I quote Mike, “I hate to see good food go to waste.”
If you can see the hard boiled egg – there is no grey ring around the egg yolk. Perfect eggs! Also the fact that normal tap water here is icy cold! Do you wonder why I’m saying all these things?
I read online (while researching on how to make deviled eggs last time) that to make the perfect hard boiled eggs, you have to soak the eggs in cold water immediately after they are done to prevent the formation of that grey-green ring (oxidation) around the egg yolk.
Super, right? The eggs look so good!!!
I had the first bowl of rice when AuntJ first finished cooking the dishes…then I showered, waited for AuntA to come over to pick me. While waiting, I took another bowl of rice at about 10am. *haha*
Pig is I!
Such an exciting place! To me, that is.
I felt bad that AuntA was walking around without much to buy (prolly already sick and tired of it whereas it’s a first for this jakun here) – she went around and came back to the first spot, I was still there! *haha*
I asked her if she had any errands to run because I would’ve been perfectly happy to spend my entire day there. *hehe* Unfortunately, my trip there had to be cut short not so much of the time limit but because I spent everything I had there in less than 2 hours. Pfft.
Yummy! Joey’s BBQ – this is the combination of chicken and baby back ribs. Preferred the ribs because the chicken was kind of dry.
Going back to SF later…so this is really a “hello goodbye” trip to LA.
